Shelbyville boys volleyball secured a win at Garrett Gymnasium Thursday in its final home contest before becoming an IHSAA sanctioned sport.
Senior Jayion Grice led the Golden Bears to a 25-17, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Christel House. Grice finished with a team-high 12 kills, three service aces and 19 digs.
Corbin Deck had 10 kills and 22 digs. Kyle Clouse finished with 10 kills and Diego Hernandez had five aces, 13 digs and 34 assists.
Christel House dropped to 8-7.
Shelbyville learned its sectional draw this past week. The Golden Bears are assigned to the four-team sectional at Madison and will face the host Cubs (9-12) on May 11 in one semifinal contest. Madison defeated Shelbyville in five sets on March 30.
The other semifinal on May 11 pits Center Grove (18-6) against Scottsburg (1-11). The sectional championship match is scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 12.

Baseball
Waldron 8, North Decatur 4
At North Decatur, Jacob Bennett went the distance, allowing five hits and one walk and struck out 12 to get the Mohawks a Mid-Hoosier Conference sweep of the Class A, No. 10 Chargers (7-7, 5-2 MHC).
Troy Atwood had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs to help Waldron improve to 10-6 (4-4 MHC). The Mohawks reached 10 wins as a program for the first time in more than a decade, according to head coach Tommy Coy.
Jacob Lindsey, Jordan Bennett and Keith Settles each had two hits for Waldron.
South Decatur 13, Morristown 4
At South Decatur, Corey Nugent and J.P. Scudder combined to limit the Yellow Jackets to seven hits and collected 11 strikeouts to complete the MHC sweep and improve to 9-3 (6-0 MHC).
Nugent also drove in four runs. Corbin Johnson had two hits, two runs scored and drove in two runs.
Morristown dropped to 4-11 overall and 1-8 in the MHC standings.
Boys golf
Indianapolis Lutheran 161, Triton Central 197
At Hawk’s Tail, Chase Chandler led the Tigers in the loss with a 44.
Colton Ayers followed at 49. Taggy Goul shot 51 and Derreck Uhls finished at 53. Cael Butler completed the scorecard with a 62.
Caden Perkins was the medalist with a 37.
Girls tennis
Triton Central 5, Indianapolis Ritter 0
At Triton Central, the Tigers dominated the match against an Indiana Crossroads Conference opponent, losing just four games.
Maryrose Felling, Ellie Gast and Anniston Evans earned singles wins.
The doubles teams of Lauren Grant and Audrey Canter (No. 1 doubles) and Neve Kahler and Estelle Gearlds (No. 2 doubles) did not lose a game in sweeping the doubles matches.
New Castle 4, Shelbyville 1
At Shelbyville, the No. 1 doubles team of Sydney Baker and Sophie Asher secured the Golden Bears’ lone match win. Baker and Asher defeated Jaylee Bush and Payton Dolce, 6-4, 6-1.
New Castle won the other four matches in straight sets.
The Golden Bears dropped to 5-9 overall and 2-2 against Hoosier Heritage Conference opponents.
Softball
Triton Central 4, Rushville 0
At Rushville, Brylie Couch twirled a seven-inning no-hitter to get the Tigers back above .500 at 7-6. Couch walked two and struck out 10.
Lilli Fillippinie, Jadyn Capps and Jayda McKee each drove in a run.
Becca Tabeling took the loss for Rushville (2-8).
North Decatur 20, Waldron 3
At North Decatur, the host Chargers scored seven runs in the first inning and eight more in the second to secure the MHC victory.
North Decatur improved to 7-6 (6-2 MHC).
Destiny Hirschauer and Brooklyn Hudnall each had two hits for Waldron (5-4, 2-4 MHC).
Morristown 18, South Decatur 5
At South Decatur, the Yellow Jackets used a 9-run first inning to pull away for the MHC win.
Avery Everhart led Morristown (5-7, 2-4 MHC) with four hits, three runs and three RBI. Nevaeh Cox had two hits, three runs and four RBI.
