Prep report: Strong first half propels Shelbyville soccer to win over Beech Grove

Diego Hernandez and Aiden Helfer-Vazquez each scored a pair of goals Monday to lead Shelbyville to a 9-0 rout of winless Beech Grove (0-15).

The Golden Bears, now 8-7 this season, scored eight goals in the first half. Hernandez also had three assists.

Jett Suiter scored a goal and had two assists. Logan Addis, Rory O’Connor and Rolando Saucedo also scored goals.

Josue Gil earned the shutout in goal.

Girls golf

Franklin Regional

Shelbyville’s Riley Everette carded a 120 (65-55) Monday at The Legends Golf Course in Franklin and did not advance to the state finals.

Boys soccer

Southwestern 8, Central Christian Academy 0

The host Spartans, ranked No. 10 in Class A, improved to 10-3-1 this season.

Central Christian Academy is 1-7.

Boys tennis

Edinburgh 3, Morristown 2

At Edinburgh, Morristown’s wins came at the top two singles positions.

At No. 1 singles, Dalton McMichael prevailed 7-5, 6-3.

Eli Graves won a three-set match at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.

Volleyball

Greensburg def. Southwestern, 25-18, 25-11, 25-9

At Greensburg, Leah West had 13 kills for the victorious Pirates (20-4). Claire Larrison finished with eight kills.

Tanna Tatlock topped Southwestern (13-12) with 10 kills and 16 digs. Ruby Garner added five kills.

Kelsey Stringer notched 15 digs.

Waldron def. Edinburgh, 25-19, 19-25, 25-21, 25-17

At Waldron, Emerson Lindsey had a team-high 10 kills and added four service aces and 24 digs for the Mohawks (3-18, 1-3 Mid-Hoosier Conference).

Lilli Lozier delivered eight kills. Ashlyn Ramsey finished with six aces and 28 assists. Jordyn Kropp recorded a team-high 25 digs.

Edinburgh dropped to 1-22 (0-5 MHC).
