A fast start and a strong finish propelled Heritage Christian to a 77-63 victory over Triton Central Tuesday in Fairland.
Joslyn Marshall sank three 3-pointers in the first quarter to help Heritage Christian take a 23-13 lead at the break. That lead grew to 38-27 at halftime and held at 56-48 after three quarters.
The Eagles then hit 6 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the road victory against a potential sectional opponent.
Marshall hit six 3s in the win to lead Heritage Christian with 26 points. Riley Johnson followed with 25 points and Casey Frost finished with 19. That trio combined to make 12 3s in the season-opening win.
Maryrose Felling made four 3s and 11-of-16 free throws on the way to scoring 33 points for Triton Central (0-2). Freshman Sawyor Murdick connected on three 3s and finished with 15 points.
Triton Central won the junior varsity game, 66-31.
The Tigers travel to Charlottesville Saturday to face another potential sectional opponent in Class 2A, No. 6 Eastern Hancock (3-0).

Tri 71, Morristown 36
At Tri, the Class A, No. 12-ranked Titans improved to 2-0 this season with its second win over a Shelby County opponent.
Tri defeated Waldron Saturday and pinned a second loss this season on its sister school, Morristown.
After a close first quarter Tuesday that saw Tri hold a 12-8 advantage, the Titans scored 28 second-quarter points to open up a 40-13 lead at halftime.
The Yellow Jackets (0-2) won the third quarter 14-10 but surrendered 21 points in the fourth to seal the loss.
Morristown opens its Mid-Hoosier Conference schedule Thursday at South Decatur (1-0).
