A 12-run second inning propelled Triton Central to its first Indiana Crossroads Conference victory this season.
The Tigers pounded out 18 hits Thursday at Beech Grove to produce a 20-11 win over the Hornets.
Nick Riggins had four hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs for Triton Central (3-0, 1-0 ICC). Mathew Shircliff and Eli Sego each had three hits and combined to drive in five runs. Hayden May and Kellan Dishman had two hits apiece.
May earned the win, allowing one hit and striking out 11 in four innings of work. Kaleb Murphy took over on the mound in the fifth inning but struggled and Janssen Capps closed out the final three innings.
Beech Grove (0-3, 0-1 ICC) trailed 15-4 going into the bottom of the fifth inning where it scored seven runs to close the gap. The Tigers responded with four more runs in the top of the sixth.
The two teams continue their ICC series tonight in Fairland.

Boys volleyball
Whiteland def. Shelbyville, 25-22, 25-14, 25-20
At Whiteland, Jayion Grice finished with a team-high nine kills, two service aces and 16 digs for the Golden Bears (1-4).
Corbin Deck finished with five kills. Layne Pogue and Nathan Singzon each had eight digs and setter Diego Hernandez notched 19 assists.
Whiteland improved to 7-5 this season.
Shelbyville hosts Irvington Prep (2-5) Tuesday at Garrett Gymnasium.
