Prep Report: Triton Central baseball crowned Indiana Crossroads Conference champions

Class 2A, No. 4 Triton Central put together a six-run third inning which proved to be enough run support for Bryce Haney to close the win that sealed the Indiana Crossroads Conference championship.

Haney allowed six hits and two walks while striking out eight to lead Triton Central to an 11-3 win Thursday at Indianapolis Lutheran.

Eli Sego had three hits, two runs scored and two RBI for Triton Central (22-3, 13-1 ICC). Weston Smith had two hits and two RBI. Nick Riggins also had two hits.

Nate Hughes had two hits for Lutheran (12-14, 9-5 ICC), who finished third in the ICC standings behind 2A No. 7 Cascade (18-4, 12-2 ICC).

Baseball

Waldron 5, Edinburgh 1

At Waldron Thursday, Jacob Bennett allowed just two hits and one unearned run while striking out 10 to lead the Mohawks (14-8, 8-4 Mid-Hoosier Conference) to a third-place finish in the conference standings behind Hauser and South Decatur.

Troy Atwood and Keith Settles each had two hits. Jackson Kuhn drove in two runs for Waldron.

Silas Cooney had the only hit for Edinburgh (10-12-1, 4-8 MHC).

Alexandria 10, Southwestern 2

At Alexandria Friday, Will Rowland and Aaron Matthews each had two hits and drove in two runs to lead the Tigers to a win over the Spartans (2-17).

Alexandria pitcher Kaed Abshire scattered six hits and struck out six to improve the Tigers to 17-10 this season.

On Thursday, Southwestern defeated Indianapolis Tech, 9-8.

Hauser 6, Morristown 0

At Hauser Thursday, Sam Louden pitched a three-hit shutout and struck out 10 to lead the Jets to a perfect 12-0 record against Mid-Hoosier Conference opponents.

Stryker Gill and Simeon Wasil each had two hits. Grady Niccum drove in two runs.

The Jets are 16-9 this season.

Morristown closed out its regular-season schedule with a 5-16 (1-11 MHC) record.

Boys golf

Oldenburg Academy 208, Triton Central 211

At Hillcrest Golf Course Thursday, Max Ray shot 47 to earn a co-medalist honor and lead Triton Central in the dual match.

Also scoring for the Tigers were Derreck Uhls (52), Garrett Eberhardt (56) and Colton Ayers (56).

Softball

Bethesda Christian 4, Triton Central 3

At Bethesda Christian Thursday, Triton Central starting pitcher Lilli Fillippinie broke her own school record with 18 strikeouts in a game but the Patriots scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game and pushed across the game winner in the seventh.

Fillippinie allowed three hits and all four runs were unearned.

Hailey Harris had two hits and scored two runs for Triton Central (14-8). Makinah Noel drove in two runs.

Bethesda Christian is 13-10.

Indianapolis Cathedral 3, Shelbyville 0

At Cathedral Thursday, Anna Moore led off the Irish first inning with a solo home run which proved to be enough run support for Sidney Feczko, who limited the Golden Bears to one hit in a shutout victory.

Feczko struck out nine to improve Class 4A, No. Cathedral to 23-3.

Kali Laycock had the only hit, a first-inning single, for Shelbyville (15-9).

Edinburgh 12, Waldron 2

At Waldron Thursday, the visiting Lancers scored multiple runs in four of the five innings to pin the loss on the Mohawks.

Breanna Barton had two hits and drove in a run for Waldron (5-10, 2-8 MHC).

Eloise Cox pitched four innings, allowed four hits and struck out for Edinburgh (8-11, 6-4 MHC).

Kyah Streeval had three hits, scored three runs and had five RBI.

Morristown 13, Jac-Cen-Del 6

At Jac-Cen-Del Thursday, the visiting Yellow Jackets scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to secure the victory.

Alexia Rogers had three hits, including two doubles, scored two runs and drove in two runs for Morristown (8-10). Nevaeh Cox, Mykynzy Smith and Abby Hawk each had two hits.

Hawk earned the win in the pitcher’s circle.
