Triton Central captured the program's first Shelby County Girls Golf Tournament title Thursday at Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh.
Kennedy Hall (photo, third from right) and Jaylee Davis (photo, third from left) each broke 50 to lead head coach Kyle Ratliff's Tigers to a 205-232 victory over Southwestern. Morristown had just two golfers and Waldron does not have a girls golf program.
Hall was crowned county champion after carding a 9-hole score of 45. Davis was four shots back at 49.
Completing the Triton Central scorecard were Lindsay Huxford (51), Hanna Fink (60) and Emersynn Ailes (63).
Aurora Belton topped Southwestern’s scorecard with a 51. Also playing for the Spartans were Taryn Hoeing (55), Sydney Griffin (59), Emma Chandler (67) and Olivia Lahey.
For Morristown, Clara Hale shot 67 and Jorga Geise carded a 70.

Girls golf
New Palestine 200, Shelbyville 221
At The Links, Matti Tiede-White was the medalist with 43 for New Palestine. Janie Hamilton followed at 48.
For Shelbyville, Emmie Higgins posted a 50. Maddy Jones (56), Kylie Stader (57) and Riley Everette (58) completed the Golden Bears’ scorecard.
Boys soccer
New Palestine 5, Shelbyville 1
At Shelbyville, Paxton Holmes and Noah Diaz De Leon each had a goal and an assist to lead the Dragons (5-4, 3-1 Hoosier Heritage Conference) to the win.
Joao Rivera scored the only goal for Shelbyville (4-5, 1-1 HHC) with 35 minutes left in the contest.
Girls soccer
Triton Central 3, Shelbyville 1
At Triton Central, Brynne Aukerman, Bella Ball and Rylee Pruitt each scored first-half goals to propel the Tigers (5-4) over the Golden Bears (4-6).
Shelbyville’s goal came from Hannah Baker off an assist from Brigid McKenny.
Boys tennis
Mt. Vernon 4, Shelbyville 1
At Shelbyville, Shelbyville’s No. 1 doubles pairing of Aiden Smith and Wyatt Armstrong needed three sets to secure a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win. The duo improved to 10-2 this season.
The Marauders won the other four matches in straight sets.
The Golden Bears are 3-10 (1-3 HHC).
Waldron 3, Eastern Hancock 2
At Waldron, Jack Fischer won a three-set match at No. 2 singles, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 over Luke Schilling to help the Mohawks collect the team victory.
At No. 1 singles, Waldron’s Charlie Fischer defeated Luke Zielinga, 7-5, 6-2.
Waldron’s third win came at No. 1 doubles where Lucas Shaw and Cash Young bested Myles Wennen and Luke Fletcher, 6-3, 6-1.
Hauser 4, Morristown 1
At Hauser, Morristown’s lone match win came at No. 3 singles where Michael Ballinger defeated Colten Hatton, 0-6, 6-1, 10-5.
The Jets lost a total of seven games in the other four matches.
Volleyball
Shelbyville def. Hauser, 25-17, 25-13, 25-10
At Garrett Gymnasium, Ashlyn Turner, Riley Fortune and Alivia Lee each had six kills to lead the Golden Bears (3-8) over the Jets (3-13).
Lee also had 11 service aces. Sydney Haehl had a team-high 12 digs and Addy Marshall led Shelbyville with 12 assists.
Charleston Gelfius and Aleigha Wickliffe each had four kills for Hauser.
South Decatur def. Southwestern, 25-23, 25-21, 25-21
At South Decatur, the host Cougars improved to 12-2 this season and stayed unbeaten against Mid-Hoosier Conference foes at 3-0.
Tanna Tatlock led the visiting Spartans (9-7, 2-1 MHC) with 14 kills, four aces and 15 digs. Ruby Garner finished with seven kills, two aces and 15 digs.
Greenwood Christian def. Waldron, 25-8, 25-8, 25-16
At Greenwood Christian, Alivia Fischer and Lilli Lozier each had four kills for Waldron (1-10).
Emerson Lindsey collected a team-high 12 digs and Lauren Strehle finished with 14 assists.
New Palestine def. Triton Central, 25-15, 25-19, 25-17
At Triton Central, Natalie Sevier led the visiting Dragons with 16 kills and Hayden Ramsey had 14 kills.
Lucy May topped the Tigers (9-5) with five kills. Gwyn Williams had a team-high 10 digs.
