Prep Report: Triton Central moves within win of ICC championship

Class 2A, No. 15 Triton Central needs one more win to clinch a conference championship in its final season in the Indiana Crossroads Conference (ICC).

On Tuesday at Covenant Christian, Maryrose Felling and Quinn King combined to score 29 points to lead the Tigers to a 49-41 victory.

Triton Central improved to 13-8 and, more importantly, 5-1 in the ICC standings. The Tigers host Beech Grove (11-10, 6-0 ICC) Thursday.

With a win over the Hornets, who are already guaranteed a share of the ICC title, Triton Central and, potentially, Monrovia (15-7, 5-1 ICC), who hosts Indianapolis Scecina (10-10, 1-5 ICC) Thursday, could finish in a 3-way tie.

All three schools have announced their departure from the ICC, along with Speedway, to create a new conference called Hoosier Legends Conference (HLC), which will start in the fall along with Tri-West Hendricks and Indian Creek. Shelbyville and Greenwood are expected to join the HLC in the fall of 2026.

Triton Central trailed 19-12 after one quarter Tuesday at Covenant Christian (15-7, 4-3 ICC) then outscored the Warriors 16-2 in the second quarter to build a 28-21 halftime lead.

King, Kate Collier and Layla Compton each hit fourth-quarter three-pointers to seal the win.

Felling finished with a game-high 15 points. King had 14.

Moriah Armstrong scored 13 points to lead Covenant Christian.
