Lilli Fillippinie limited Indianapolis Scecina to two hits and three walks while striking out 12 to lead Triton Central to a 9-1 victory Wednesday in the Class 2A, Sectional 42 championship game.
The sectional title was the second straight for the Tigers and third overall in program history.
Triton Central led 2-0 through four innings at Heritage Christian High School Wednesday then scored four runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to seal the win.
Jayda McKee had three hits and scored three runs. Fillippinie, Madison Collins and Brylie Couch each had two hits in the win. Fillippinie also scored two runs and had three RBI.
Scecina finished its season at 9-11.
Triton Central, now 16-8, will host a Class 2A regional championship game Tuesday against the winners of Sectional 41 at Knightstown.
On Wednesday at Knightstown, Class 2A, No. 3 Eastern Hancock surrendered four runs in the top of the seventh inning against Shenandoah but rallied to score twice in the bottom half of the inning to send the sectional semifinal game into extra innings.
The Royals finally pushed a run across the plate in the 10th inning to defeat the Raiders, 5-4.
The second semifinal game at Knightstown is today at 5:30 p.m. between Union County (10-12) and Northeastern (14-7).
Eastern Hancock (24-2) awaits the winner in Friday’s championship game.

Jac-Cen-Del Sectional
Waldron 4, Jac-Cen-Del 1
Jacob Bennett limited the Eagles to four hits and struck out 15 to lead Waldron into the semifinal round of Class A, Sectional 60.
The Mohawks scored three times in the fifth inning to provide enough run support for Bennett.
Keith Settles drove in two runs for Waldron, who had just five hits total off Jac-Cen-Del pitchers Brody Huff and Brady Borgman.
Waldron, 16-8 this season and ranked No. 11 in Class A, returns to Jac-Cen-Del Monday for a 10 a.m. sectional semifinal game against Class A, No. 7 South Decatur, a 4-1 winner over Oldenburg Academy Wednesday.
The second semifinal game Monday pits North Decatur (10-13) against Southwestern (4-17).
The sectional championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at Jac-Cen-Del.
Morristown Sectional
Indianapolis Lutheran 20, Morristown 1
Indianapolis Lutheran scored 12 runs in the first inning and never trailed in winning the only quarterfinal game at Class A, Sectional 59.
Ryan Redding had three hits and drove in three runs to lead the Saints (14-15). Jackson Brandenburg had three hits and scored three runs while Hudson Mills had three hits and scored four runs.
Nate Hughes and Owen Lecher combined to limit the Yellow Jackets (5-17) to three hits while striking out seven.
With the win, Lutheran advances to face Edinburgh (10-12-1) Saturday in the second semifinal game at Morristown. Class A, No. 14 Greenwood Christian Academy (10-11) takes on Indianapolis Metropolitan in the semifinal opener Saturday at 10 a.m.
The sectional championship game is at 10 a.m. Monday.
Boys golf
Triton Central 180, Cascade 199
At Hawk’s Tail Golf Course, Chase Chandler shot 40 to earn the medalist honor and lead the Tigers past Cascade.
Colton Ayres carded a 45 and Derreck Uhls was one shot back at 46. Garrett Eberhardt shot 49 and Max Ray, the lone senior on TC’s roster, shot 52.
Evan Franklin led Cascade with a 43.
Girls tennis
State Doubles Tournament
Shelbyville’s Sydney Baker (photo, left) and Sophia Asher (photo, right) were defeated by Center Grove’s Ava Beecher and Lauren Dick, 6-1, 6-0 in the doubles sectional tournament at Center Grove High School.
Waldron’s Emerson Lindsey has not yet competed in the state singles tournament at Center Grove.
