Waldron’s Will Larrison earned his podium finish. Triton Central’s Brayden Wilkins missed his by .06 seconds.
At the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Boys Track and Field State Championship Meet Saturday at Indiana University in Bloomington, Larrison, a junior, finished eighth in the 800 meters in a time of 1:56.07 to earn All-State honors. Martinsville senior Martin Barco won the 800 in 1:50.97. Five of the top eight finishers in the race were seniors.
Wilkins (photo, right) was seeded 17th in the 100 meters field but handled the wet conditions from a rainy day in Bloomington well and posted a qualifying time of 11.19 seconds. Unfortunately, that was the 10th fastest time in the field of 31 which left the senior out of the championship race.
Wilkins also placed 13th in the 200 with a time of 23.00. He was seeded 20th overall.
Triton Central sophomore Zeke Robertson (photo, left) finished 17th in the 300 hurdles in a time of 40.07. He entered the event as the 24th seed.
