Southwestern's Kahler, TC's Sego top several statistical categories amongst Shelby County players

Eight of the top 10 and 13 of the top 15 scorers this past season in Shelby County will return for the 2024-2025 boys basketball season.

Southwestern junior Ben Kahler topped all Shelby County players with an 18.7 point-per-game average this past season. Triton Central sophomore Eli Sego (photo) was second at 17 ppg.

Kahler also was the top rebounder in Shelby County averaging 9.1 rpg. Morristown junior Colin Kieninger was second at 6.2 rpg.

Triton Central sophomore Max Crouse had a county-best 3.2 assists-per-game average edging out Waldron junior Lucas Shaw (3.1 apg), Morristown freshman Kellen Crim (3.0 apg) and Southwestern junior Kaden Barlow (3.0 apg) for the top honor.

Sego was the only county player to average more than two steals per game. His 2.2 spg average topped Waldron junior Max Jones’ 1.9 spg.

Waldron senior Keith Settles produced a county-best 34 blocks this season (1.6 bpg). Southwestern senior Carter Snepp (photo, below) followed at 1.2 bpg.

 

 

Three Triton Central players were in the top five of field-goal percentage behind Shelbyville sophomore Cole Schene, 60.9% in limited attempts, and Morristown senior Cade Mahin (56.3%). After that pair, Sego (55.8%), junior Taggy Goul (55.7%) and junior Sam Collier (55.6%) followed.

Crouse also topped the free-throw shooting standings at 84.3%. Waldron junior Parker Douglas was close behind at 83.3%. Sego, at 81%, was the only other county player to top 80%.

Sego made the second-most three-pointers in the county and finished with the top percentage at 44.8%. Southwestern freshman Mitchell Clements followed at 42.9%.

 

 

Crim (photo above, right) sank the most 3s at 53.

Triton Central led the five Shelby County programs with 16 wins this past season.

Shelbyville followed with 11 ahead of Waldron (9), Morristown (5) and Southwestern (3).
