Triton Central’s Ashlyn Hittle won two state titles and Shelbyville’s Macey Robbins broke her own school record Saturday at the Indiana Middle School State Track and Field Championships in Terre Haute.

Competing in the 800 meters, Robbins ran a strong race that culminated with a hard charge with 300 meters to go that helped her win her heat and finished 16th overall in two minutes, 29.47 seconds to lower her own school record in the event.

Hittle won the shot put competition with a best throw of 39 feet, eight inches. She also took first place in the discus competition with a throw of 115-0.

Other strong performances at the state meet included:

Shelbyville’s Ethan Griffin placing 13th in the discus with a best throw of 131 feet, five inches. Shelbyville’s spring medley relay team of Stella Cunningham, Amara Lewis, Sophia Cunningham and Mary O’Connor finished ninth in 2:06.34. Shelbyville’s America Leon placed 24th in the 1,600 in 5:41.78 which was the 13th-best time among non-eighth graders. Leon also placed 20th in the 2,400 in 9:11.17. Lewis finished eighth in the 200 hurdles in 31.54. Shelbyville’s 1,600 relay team of Sophia Cunningham, Stella Cunningham, Mary O’Connor and Macey Robbins crossed the finish line in 4:39.58 to lower their season-best time by eight seconds. Triton Central’s Kye West finished 10th in the boys shot put with a top throw of 42-11.5. Waldron’s Maleah Williams placed fourth in the discus at 104-8 and third in the shot put at 38-1.25. The Triton Central quartet of Kaylynn Alexander, Zoey Jenkins, Rylee Pruitt and Ryn West finished fifth in the sprint medley relay in 2:00.71. The same foursome also placed 22nd in the 1,600 relay in 4:36.30. Triton Central’s Kaylynn Alexander, Riley Sheler, Zoey Jenkins and Ryn West finished 16th in the 400 relay in 53.92.
