Walker Dodson threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns Saturday to lead Waldron to a 48-12 playoff win over Traders Point Christian Academy.
With the win, the Mohawks (8-0) earned the right to host the 8-man football state championship game against the Tri-State Crusaders (5-3). Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Waldron.
This is the third year for the 8-man football pilot program operated by the Indiana Football Coaches Association.
Waldron, a leading proponent of 8-man football, rushed for another 143 yards and a touchdown to secure its third win of the season over Traders Point and keep its perfect record intact.
Hunter Dodson had a team-high 45 rushing yards and scored a touchdown. Waldron Dodson finished with 43 yards rushing and Troy Atwood and 28 yards on six carries.
Tad Crosby had a team-high 59 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Atwood had a 58-yard touchdown reception and Jared Crosby added a 41-yard touchdown catch.
Hunter Dodson led the defense with eight tackles. Atwood and Joey Worley each had seven tackles.
The defense forced two fumbles, had three quarterback sacks and three interceptions.
Tri-State reached the championship game with a 14-8 win Saturday over Dugger Union. It was the Fort Wayne-based team’s second win over Dugger this season.
The Crusaders also split a pair of games with Traders Point, prevailing 54-0 on Aug. 24 and losing 12-8 on Sept. 28.
Waldron defeated Dugger Union, 14-6, on Sept. 7.
The Mohawks are averaging 38.6 points per game this season while allowing just 11.4 ppg.
